Resilience: supporting mental health in communities
Resilience Centers are friendly spaces where everyone in the community can receive free psychosocial support, participate in mutual aid groups, and group activities.

The Resilience Center is an inclusive, welcoming space open to all members of the community. Here people can receive professional consultations, advice, and support. Resilience Centers run by the Ukrainian Education Platform currently operate in the Obroshyne and Stryi hromadas of Lviv oblast, the Bakhmach hromada in Chernihiv oblast, and the Petrykivka hromada in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The comprehensive service for building resilience is implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the Social Protection Fund for People with Disabilities.

Through group psychological sessions and art therapy methods, war veterans are being gradually reintegrated into community life. Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovych, paid a working visit to two of our Resilience Centres – in Obroshyno, Lviv region, and in the Petrykivka community, Dnipropetrovsk region.
This year, on World Social Work Day, the team of the Obroshyno Resilience Centre received a special recognition from the Ministry of Social Policy – being named one of the best providers of social services in the country. The award was presented personally by the Minister. This honour celebrates the team’s daily dedication, professionalism, and the power of partnership.

Psychosocial support centres in Dnipro and Petrykivka – Project «Motanka2»
The project is part of the Emergency Response Initiative to support war-affected population in Ukraine and neighboring countries. It is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation with a contribution of 46,5 million UAH. The project is implemented in partnership with the Support Center CO «Globa22».
In the Petrykivka hromada, the initiative successfully combines the state Resilience Program with the «Motanka» project. Two local centers operate in synergy, enhancing and complementing each other’s services.
As part of the project, the centers were not only established but also became hubs for training specialists, delivering services to local residents, and fostering growing community interest in psychosocial support.

-
In 2024, two Psychosocial Support Centers were renovated, equipped, and launched – one in Petrykivka and one in Dnipro
-
More than 2 500 beneficiaries received psychological, social, and educational support services

Space of Trust
A safe space where people can receive professional help from a psychologist, psychotherapist, speech therapist, or spiritual advisor.
Three such mental health hubs operate at churches in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kremenchuk. Space of Trust was created in response to the growing need for psychological support, which has intensified due to the war and the challenges of today.
The goal of the project is to make mental health care a basic skill for Ukrainians, a natural part of everyday life. It is important not only to provide assistance, but also to change public attitudes toward this topic, promote a culture of self-care, and remove the stigma surrounding mental health.

The project is being implemented by the Ukrainian Education Platform in partnership with «Light for the World», «Beloved Country», and «Space of Flame», with support and funding from Kerk in Actie (KIA).

The balance of your ministry
The project aims to enhance the Church's capacity to respond to the needs of Ukrainian society, which has been traumatized by war, and to equip church community leaders with tools for psychological literacy.
The training program offers a comprehensive approach to mental health in communities, as it covers topics such as spiritual and emotional well-being, psychosocial support, conflict resolution, assistance to children during wartime, and the development of social initiatives.
Participants in the project can be:
-
leaders of church communities and religious organizations;
-
priests and pastors, monks and nuns;
-
active Christians with the appropriate education and a desire to engage in social service based
on the parish; -
psychologists and social workers.
The training is implemented in the format of 5 educational modules, which cover the topics of combining spirituality and psychology.
