Helping Recover from Trauma: Training on the International RESET Model Held in Lviv

A two-day training session focused on recovering from the mental and physical impacts of trauma recently took place in Lviv. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Educational Platform in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU).
RESET is an international methodology that combines neuroscience, developmental psychology, somatic practices, and trauma-informed approaches. It explains how the brain and body react to chronic stress and trauma, while providing effective tools to restore self-regulation and a sense of safety.
The training in Lviv was conducted by Kirsten Callesen, an international expert with over 30 years of experience in childhood trauma, representing the organization Mission10forty.
Participants included psychologists, educators, medical personnel, social workers, and representatives of non-governmental organizations. Over two days, they practiced applied techniques:
Somatic techniques: Havening and tapping to relieve tension and support self-soothing.
The CAT-kit visual tool: A specialized set that helps children identify, understand, and express their emotions and experiences.
«Over 5 million Ukrainian children have experienced the trauma of war. If we want to protect Ukraine's future, we must act now. Individual resilience centers are doing incredible work, but reaching millions requires scale. Our shared goal is to train hundreds of Ukrainian specialists in the RESET methodology and make the CAT-kit accessible to parents, teachers, healthcare workers, and psychologists across Ukraine», - stated Dr. Kim Hartzner, founder of Mission10forty.
The program combined theoretical content with the analysis of real-world cases involving children and adults. The training will continue, and upon successful completion of the course, all participants will receive official certificates.
The event was held within the framework of the project «Strengthening the Psychosocial Resilience of War-Affected Children and Youth in Southern Ukraine», with financial support from CISU – Civilsamfund i Udvikling (Denmark).
