In childhood, where anxiety and uncertainty replace carefree days, the presence of adults who stay by a child’s side, offer support, provide protection, and help maintain a sense of security becomes especially valuable. It was precisely for this daily, often unnoticed, yet vitally necessary support that organizations and initiatives were recognized in the «Charity in the Sphere of Child Protection and Assistance» category of the «Charitable Ukraine-2025» National Competition.

This year, the Ukrainian Education Platform became the general partner of the competition and launched this category to amplify the voices of those who work with children in the most difficult circumstances and help them preserve their childhood despite the war.
We received over 100 applications from organizations and philanthropists. Behind each one lies the experience of children forced to grow up too soon, and of adults who have the courage to stand by them during this time.
Yesterday, the winners of the competition were honored, and for the Ukrainian Education Platform, it was important not only to recognize best practices but also to publicly thank those who are creating a caring environment for children in Ukraine amidst the turmoil of war. The winner in the «Philanthropy in the Field of Child Protection and Assistance» category was the Ukrainian Network for Children’s Rights. Also recognized were the SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine Charitable Foundation, the Partnership for Every Child International Organization, and the City of Goodness Charitable Foundation – organizations whose daily work changes children’s lives and sets the standard for quality support in the field of child rights protection.

The UEP awarded the «For Caring for Children in Times of War» special commendation to the «Caritas Kherson» Charitable Foundation, led by Ihor Makar.
«Childhood has its own timeframe – it cannot be postponed or lived later. It is happening right now, even as our country is at war. That is precisely why we must support Ukrainian children, be there for them, and create a safe space for them here and now. We are grateful to everyone who helps children grow through the storms of war – with a sense of support and faith in the future», comments Mariana Kashchak, CEO of the Ukrainian Education Platform.

Thank you to everyone who became part of the «Charitable Ukraine-2025» National Competition and our category. To everyone who, through their daily work, helps children withstand the challenges of this all-too «unchildlike» life.
