The Ukrainian Education Platform has joined the World Child and Youth Care Conference 2026

The Ukrainian Education Platform presented Ukraine’s experience at the World Child and Youth Care Conference 2026 in Canada. One of the key international events in the field of child protection brought together experts from around the world—researchers, practitioners, and those who work with children and families on a daily basis. The discussions focused on child support, the development of family-based care models, and collaborative solutions for a safe future.

The Ukrainian Education Platform presented Ukraine’s experience at the World Child and Youth Care Conference 2026 in Canada. This is one of the key international events in the field of child protection, bringing together experts from around the world—researchers, practitioners, and those who work with children and families on a daily basis.

Our experience was presented by project manager Solomiya Kamad in a presentation titled “Ukraine: Care Transformation in Time of War.” Her presentation focused on how full-scale war has affected the lives of children and families in Ukraine—while, at the same time, leaving one fundamental truth unchanged: every child has the right to grow up in a family.

Today, Ukraine continues to reform its child care system by developing family-based care, foster care, community-based social services, and interagency collaboration.

“It was especially valuable to not only share Ukraine’s experience but also to hear from colleagues in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, and other countries. Despite our different contexts, we are all united by a common goal—to ensure that every child feels protected, heard, and supported by adults who are there for them. Today, Ukraine is not only responding to challenges but also shaping an approach centered on the child, their needs, and their right to a family,” says Solomiya Kamad.

During the conference, we also presented the art book “Growing through the storms” - a collection of stories by children living through the experience of war. Each story serves as a reminder that behind the numbers lie real lives, pain, and strength.

For us, participating in the World Child and Youth Care Conference 2026 is about forging new partnerships, sharing experiences, and feeling that Ukraine’s voice matters in the world today.
